49.500 roofers, carpenters, construction plumbers, architects and planners visited the DACH+HOLZ International in Stuttgart. The topics “information on novelties”, “general market orientation” and “further education” were the main topics. This variety mobilized the professional visitors from a notably grown catchment area. A third of the German visitors drove 300 kilometers or more to Stuttgart. The visitors from abroad came from a total of 86 countries.

DACH+HOLZ StuttgartThe trade fair is the marketplace on which roofers, carpenters and construction plumbers inform themselves about new developments and invest in new technologies. Over 60 percent of those surveyed stated that the DACH+HOLZ International determines their purchase decision. According to the survey of the trade fair visitors commissioned by the trade fair organizer GHM Gesellschaft für Handwerksmessen mbH, the most important motives for visiting the trade fair were the “presence of the market leaders“ and the “completeness and wide range of the offer.“ The fact that the 550 exhibitors satisfied these two wishes with their live presentations at the fair stands ensured a high level of satisfaction of 93.4 percent among the trade fair visitors. The majority of the companies also rated their trade fair participation very positively. 88.8 percent of the companies took a positive stock and gave top ratings from “excellent to very good.”

Digitalization was perceptible topic at many fair stands. That way, roofers were able to have a look into the future with the special exhibition “drones” and find out on site which advantages this technology has for the work on roofs and facades. This special exhibition, carried out for the first time, immediately made the first place in popularity among the visitors with 93.5 percent. Wood construction of the 21st century could be experienced in hall 1. From machines for freely formed wooden components to technologies for the CAD/CAM process – the 70 companies showed the entire spectrum of wooden structures.

The 34 talks at the DACH+HOLZ forum got high approval ratings during the survey in hall 7. The conveyed information and suggestions were 90.2 percent “excellent to very good.“ Two events of the professional supporting program that were mainly directed towards the target groups real estate industry and architects, also received a positive response. On the real estate industry day on Wednesday, apartment entrepreneurs and property developers were able to inform themselves about the renovation and conservation of real estate and about professional solutions the roofing trade has in store. During the architecture forum Superwood with over 750 listeners, the interaction between architects and wood constructors was the focus. The talks informed about the status quo of wood architecture in Europe as well as perspectives of wood during future inner-city building projects.

The next DACH+HOLZ International will take place from the 20th to the 23rd of February 2018 in Cologne.

Statements on the DACH+HOLZ International 2016:

“The DACH+HOLZ International offered an incomparable look into the professional future and promoted the exchange between crafts with architects, housing industry and planners. Through this dialogue trust, ideas and new projects arise.“ Dieter Dohr, CEO and President of GHM (Gesellschaft für Handwerksmessen mbH)

“For the ZVDH, the fact that we were able to welcome many foreign visitors made up the charm of the trade fair. Besides many experts from other European countries, we were also happy about delegations from the United States and China. The presentation of novelties such as the drone, but also the ecologic engagement of the roofers, demonstrated by the daily construction of a green roof, illustrates the range of the roofing trade. The list of the 73 companies that have deposited a material guarantee at the ZVDH, was extended through the company Rheinzink. We are happy that we were able to win another partner in terms of legal security for our roofing companies. In short: once again it was a successful trade fair.” Karl-Heinz Schneider, President of the Central German Roofer Trade Association (ZVDH)

“The trade fair clearly showed that the wood construction sector is prepared for the tasks of the future in society as a whole, also with regards to the international climate protection agreements after the last COP 21 (climate conference) in Paris. We have solutions for energy-efficient, climate-friendly building, the supply of fast living space and the inner-city post compaction, only to name a few examples. Wood construction has developed more in the past five years than in the 50 years before that. The range of the 550 exhibitors also demonstrated this.” Peter Aicher, Head of Holzbau Deutschland - the Confederation of German Master Carpenters in the Central Association of the German Construction Industry
